About the project

With more than seven thousand loyal fans, the Humans of Nelson is a beautiful, touching, funny, and inspiring collection of photographs and stories celebrating our individuality and capturing the spirit of Nelson, British Columbia.

Photographer Ryan Oakley takes to the streets of Nelson, asking strangers if he can take their picture. Sometimes a bit of their conversation ends up as a caption to the photo.

This is a spin-off of the extremely popular Humans of New York.

You Rock!

About Ryan Oakley

I'm Ryan Oakley, an engineer, public servant, photographer, and independent entrepreneur. I'm a lucky S.O.B that gets to live and raise my kids in Nelson BC.

Someone at the Nelson Star thought I was one of the most interesting people in 2014. That's interesting. Ha!

I drink coffee and I have an eating-out budget so I don't go broke. I blog at ryanoakley.net and tweet at @photosontheside

Got a question or just want to say hi? Send me an email. I'd love to hear from you.

-Ryan

P.S. I published this little book with the help of some friends:)
